Dallas County Steps Up Security Screening

Posted By: Marsha Bills

As all employees and visitors to Dallas County facilities may have noticed within the past few weeks, security screening has become stricter. According to Dallas County Security Chief Alonzo Banks, this is not due to any new regulations, but to the stricter enforcement of existing policies. These policies include carrying County badges at all times, as shown on Deputy Brittny Owens.

“The tragic death of a security guard at the National Holocaust museum last week reminds us of how difficult it is to make public buildings safe for those who work there daily, as well as for visitors,” says District Clerk Gary Fitzsimmons. “Therefore, I want to remind all District Clerks employees to co-operate fully with those who are assigned to protect us and our facilities by always carrying and displaying their identity badges.”

“Furthermore, if employees wear or carry metal that activates the alarm system, they are expected to do whatever is necessary until they have cleared security,” he continues. “I expect all my clerks to willingly oblige screeners in doing whatever is asked of them to make us all safer.”
