January Supervisor Spotlight - Pat Briscoe

Posted by: Marsha Bills

PAT BRISCOE USES EXPERIENCE AS LONG-TIME CLERK TO BE BETTER SUPERVISOR.

After almost 11 years of service in the District Clerk’s office, Pat Briscoe is happy in her position as supervisor of the Civil/Family Records section. She was initially hired to work in the records section, then went to the Civil/Family file desk for more than a year.

According to Pat, that time at the file desk gave her an opportunity to examine the intricacies of all the different documents that she had been managing on a daily basis. “I got to see the beginning of the process, which helped me go back to records with a much better understanding of our procedures, from filing, through the courts and back to records.”

Named as a supervisor a year ago, she says it has been both a challenge and a benefit supervising colleagues who were her peers before her promotion. “Suddenly having the responsibility of managing people was a bit of a strange transition, but in the end, I found that it was helpful because I understood exactly what each person was supposed to be doing because I had done it myself.”

Pat has established and maintained a respectful atmosphere in which employees know they can openly discuss issues and resolve them to best of everyone’s ability. “I respect every colleague and customer and find that they usually respond with respect as well.”

She credits her loving mother of six children for giving her strength, patience and faith in people. Very family oriented, Pat spends as much time as possible with her mother, her sisters and her two children, who all reside in Dallas.
