April Employee Spotlight - Rose Christie

CIVIL COURT CLERK ROSE CHRISTIE
HANDLES ANY CHALLENGE WITH GRACE

While watching Rose Christie deal with an extremely irate customer in a shop where she designed jewelry and was assistant manager, Jean Jones, assistant to former District Clerk Jim Hamlin, was very impressed with Rose’s customer service skills. Following the closing of the shop, Jean remembered those exceptional skills when she interviewed Rose for a clerk’s position, which Rose accepted.

Since then, Rose has continuously used those superb skills while serving as clerk in several Civil District Clerks, including the 193rd, where she now serves. Over the years, she has honed her skills working with attorneys, setting hearings, completing tasks for judges and listening patiently to pro se litigants, among numerous other duties.

“We are here to serve,” says Rose with her trademark attitude. “Whatever needs to be done, whatever problem needs to be solved, that is my job. I have been privileged to work with and learn from exceptional staff that has always helped me.”

For Rose, job satisfaction can come from completing what may seem like a small task, such as finding a critical file. And a simple, earnest “thank you” from a new attorney or pro se can be a large reward. “When I know I’ve done my best, I know I’ve had a successful day.”

A proud native of Dallas and Texas citizen, Rose has attended community college, studied with the Longridge Writers Group and participated in numerous training courses offered by Dallas County.

The mother of two, grandmother of four and great-grandmother of three, Rose is a published author. Her book, “When All the Geese Are Gone,” is the story about her 1,000-mile trek across Texas on horseback, accompanied by her husband, a pony, two donkeys and a three-legged dog. As colorful as that sounds, Rose says the most memorable aspect of the journey was the love shown by people along the way; all races, all vocations, all ages, all denominations. Rose’s introduction to her once-in-a-lifetime adventure can be read at www.xlibris.com.
