Virginia Etherly Named New Chief Deputy

Posted by: Marsha Bills

District Clerk Gary Fitzsimmons has appointed Virginia Etherly as his new Chief Deputy. Virginia began her distinguished service to Dallas County in 1984 as a deputy District Clerk at what was then called the Civil Process Department, now called Document Production. Over the next decade, she held numerous positions in the District Clerk’s office, including that of court clerk, lead clerk and trainer, file desk supervisor and assistant manager of the Civil section.

During that time, Virginia was also called upon to oversee Records as well as Trust and Collections for interim periods, giving her a wealth of knowledge about almost every aspect of Civil and Family operations, as well other sections of the District Clerk’s office.
After demonstrating solid leadership and remarkable versatility, her dedication and diligence were recognized, and in 1995, she was appointed Civil and Family Operations Manager, where she has served with her characteristic and unsurpassed level of professionalism.

She is noted for her extensive knowledge about District Clerk procedures, and for staying abreast of developments in issues related to her position, attending conferences such as the Office of Court Administration’s Judicial Commission on Information Technology and many others.

A graduate of University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Virginia is an active alumna of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, supporting scholarship drives, leadership development and other ongoing programs. Married to Arthur Etherly for 25 years, she is the mother of two sons, Arthur IV, a Certified Public Accountant in Dallas, and Vincent, a property manager and minister in Marian, Indiana.

A member of Antioch Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church, she has assumed numerous responsibilities in that congregation such as Greeter and Deaconess, as well as maintaining a full schedule of professional and educational activities.
