DISTRICT AND COUNTY CLERK’S E-FILING CLE DRAWS LARGE, ENTHUSIASTIC CROWD

Posted by: Marsha Bills

On Wednesday, April 22, more than 200 attorneys and others who file civil and family cases in the Dallas County District Clerk’s and County Clerk’s offices attended a Continuing Legal Educational course offered by TexasOnline about E-Filing.

Co-hosts Virginia Etherly, managers of the District Clerk’s Civil and Family Courts operations and Sandra Sifford, her County Clerk counter-part, joined Jake Stine, who presented an audio-visual introduction to TexasOnline, the e-filing service being used by Dallas County. As the photo illustrates, Ms. Etherly and Mr. Stine fielded many questions following the general presentation.

After the introduction in the Central Jury Room at the George Allen Courts Building, the audience moved to fifth floor court rooms to attend individual presentations conducted by three vendors – CaseFileXPress, MyFile Runner, and ProDoc -- whose programs vary slightly.

“We have been working for months to put this presentation together, because the legal community has been eager to learn how to begin this process, and we have been anticipating the increased efficiency E-Filing will bring our office,” said District Clerk Gary Fitzsimmons.

“Quite a few law firms already use E-Filing for civil cases, but we wanted to host an event in which a greater number of attorneys could come together at the same time and hear about the entire process from an expert in the field and then choose which vendor is best for their needs,” continued Mr. Fitzsimmons.

“We have had nothing but enthusiastic and positive feedback from those already using E-Filing and those who attended this seminar about the increased productivity this service will provide.”
