E-FILER OF THE QUARTER

ERICA FREEMAN HOPES MANY MORE ATTORNEYS WILL
START USING E-FILING SERVICES TO STREAMLINE PRACTICES

In early February, attorney Erica Freeman, of Lauren Graham International, needed to file a motion by the end of the day on a Friday when her firm was particularly busy. Remembering that she had read about the District Clerk’s e-filing system, she went to the state bar website and registered.

Ms. Freeman says that registration was so easy that she registered her entire firm, which has been using the service since that day. “We can enter responses more rapidly and can file motions from our desks, which has really been helpful in streamlining our operations,” says Ms Freeman.

As well as providing speed and convenience for her firm, Ms. Freeman points out that the system will become even more beneficial as more and more attorneys and firms register.

“A system used by both sides of a docket will provide better service for all clients because we won’t have to look through in-coming faxes or wait for ground mail to get motion and answers filed by other attorneys,” continues Ms. Freeman.

The e-filing system also is an aid in record retention, which is extremely beneficial. Files can be downloaded and saved electronically in clients’ folders, which eliminates the need to scan documents onto servers. The system ensures that attorneys have clean copies documents submitted on-line.

Mr. Freeman thanks the District Clerk’s e-filing lead clerk Bernita Jefferson for helping her learn to use the system correctly, enabling her to become a regular user of the service, which has boosted her productivity and added many benefits to her practice.
